- Students then corrected Workbook questions given the previous class on Chemical Changes: questions 1, 2, 6 & 7 on pages 39 - 41.

- we reviewed Physical Changes; that they don't mess around with bonds so they don't make anything new, that they are reversible and fall under 3 types: 1) change in state, 2) change in shape or 3) are either making OR separating a mixture.
- then we took notes on Chemical changes, which are the opposite of Physical changes: they DO mess with bonds, so the make NEW things. They are NOT reversible, are associated with a display of energy and have 5 "signs".

- We then began a new topic: Physical Changes in Matter. Notes were taken and are posted on the blog and TEAMS.
- Seatwork was then assigned: pages 31 - 32, questions 1 to 4. The students then had approx. 20 minutes in class to do these questions.
- After the Molecules requiz, the above questions will be checked for completion and corrected. This will count towards their "Attitude to Study" colour( Red, Yellow, Green )on their First Communication.

- Students were shown how to navigate TEAMS and also shown the teachers personal blogs for notes, etc.
- Students finished notes on Species and were assigned Workbook questions to answer for next class: pages 80 - 81, questions 1 , 2 , 3 a) b) c) & 4 a) b).

- Students in both classes helped to nearly complete the Periodic Table in the classroom. It looks good!
- Students then began notes on Chemical and Physical Changes. We covered the latter only in this first class. Seatwork was NOT assigned but will be done next class to remind and reinforce the notes taken before the PD day long weekend.

- Students were given their first quiz back. We worked together to record the mark in their Agendas. Students are encouraged to show this part of their Agenda to their parent(s), guardian(s) and/or caregiver(s).
- Students were offered a chance to re-write the quiz to improve their mark. This opportunity will be given next class( Monday, 22nd Sept. , 3rd period for the 03s and 4th period for the 04s. ).
- Students then worked on completing their Water Cycle Experiment writeup and handing it in. Multiple groups had misplaced their Experiment writeup and had to be sent to find it. The class was addressed on being organized and prepared for class due to the delay this caused.
- Students then were introduced to the new vocabulary. They were directed to their Binder Glossary and highlighted the new vocabulary.
- Students then began taking notes on Organization in Ecosystems. These notes are posted on the blog and on TEAMS. We will continue with them Monday/Tuesday.
- The first quiz had mixed results and I want to offer a second chance.
- It was a heavy quiz with all three topics( Atoms, Molecules and Elements ). In previous years I have quizzed all three topics separately.
- so, starting on Tuesday, 23rd September( the week after the PD day weekend )I will be offering voluntary requizzes for 3 consecutive classes..

- Students were given some time to compare notes/work on their "Counting Atoms" Assignment. If done at the end of this period, it can be handed in. If not, then it is due next class( Monday, 15 Sept. , last period ).

- We then started notes on The Periodic Table.
- Students were given answers to questions on pages 14 - 15 in their workbook on Molecules.
- Students were reminded of the definition of "Elements" and assigned seatwork in their workbooks; this was corrected after a brief work period.
- An Assignment( Counting Molecules )was handed out and examples on how to answer it were given. Students then began working on it individually.
- The Assignment is due next class*, but will be accepted as late as mid-week next week( Wed., 17th Sept. )
* Just noticed the next class is tomorrow! We will check for understanding and allow another short work period. If the assignment is done it can be handed in. If it is not finished, it will be kept until it is. We'll then start a new topic.
Notes on molecules were just finished at the end of last class, so students completed workbook questions on molecules as reinforcement of that concept.
Students then made a final note on Elements, and again did workbook questions.
Both sets of questions were corrected by the teacher, leading from the front of the class.
An Assignment was then handed out and explained. Students began work on it for the remaining 5 - 10 minutes of class.
The assignment is due next class( Wednesday, 10th September, first period. ).
Students identified Abiotic and Biotic items from a list they made from an activity last class.
Students took notes on The Characteristics of Living Things.
Students then began work on questions 1 , 3 & 5 on pages 115 - 116 in their workbooks.
Any unanswered questions become homework. This "homework" will be checked for completion and then corrected next class.
Students identified "atoms" and "molecules" from a slideshow to check understanding from last class.
Homework questions on pages 10 & 11 were checked for completion and corrected.
Students took notes on how molecule names work.
Seatwork was assigned( pgs 14 - 15, questions 1 , 2 , 4 , 6 & 7 a) , b) and time was given in class.
This will be homework if not completed in class.
Students were reminded to bring their materials to class: Agenda, (Science)binder and workbook.
Students reviewed the concepts of atoms and molecules by building molecules with model atoms and bonds.
Students then completed several questions on atoms in their workbook. These were then corrected.
