Gr8 Sci - 03 group: Classwork

- being the last class of the last day before the Christmas break, we kept it light:  students got their Gametes quiz back and were given time to work on their Life Cycle Assignment.

Gr7 Sci - 03 group: Classwork

- students wrote a quiz on Reproduction in Plants. 

- students were then given a Life Cycle Assignment and given class time to work on it.  Work on it will continue in the New Year and it will be due by the end of the first week back - 9th Jan. , 2026.

- students were given their Reproduction in Plants quiz back.

- students were then directed to work on their Life Cycle Assignment.

Gr8 Sci - 04 group: Classwork

- students took notes on Stages of Development and did the accompanying seatwork in their workbooks. We also took the time to correct it.

- students will start the Life Cycle Assignment in the new year. 

Gr7 Sci - 03 group: Classwork and QUIZ!

- students finished taking notes on Animal Reproduction.

- students answered questions 1 ,  2 ,  4  &  5 on page 144 in their workbook. We'll check them next class.

- students will write a quiz on Plant Reproduction next class:  Friday, 19th Dec. , 2nd period.

- students will then be given an Assignment on Life Cycles.

Gr7 Sci - BOTH groups: Assignment

As both groups finish up the unit on Reproduction, I am giving an Assignment aimed at putting all the information they've learned in one place - an infograph.

It will be given out this week and worktime will be given classtime and teacher support to work on it.

The deadline will most likely be in the New Year.  A test on Reproduction will follow after the deadline for the Assignment.

Gr8 Science - both groups: Life Cycle Assignment

- a review slide from the Powerpoint notes on Pregnancy was done together to give the students and overall view of the topic.

- students then took notes on Stages of Development and questions in the workbook on this topic were assigned.

- reminder:  students will write a quiz on Gametes next class tomorrow.

- students checked answers to questions 1 - 4 a, b on pages 137 - 138 in their workbooks.

- students then answered questions 7 and 7 a, c, e on page 139. These were corrected after a brief work period.

- students then took notes on Animal Reproduction.

Gr8 Sci - 03 group: Classwork

- students got 2 evaluations back today - a test from Monday and a quiz on Reproductive Organs.

- we then began what I plan to be a regular activity to start each class:  silent reading of our glossary terms for 3 mins.  This is a study method I spoke with several students about at Parent-Teacher.  I think it will help struggling students earn better marks and help those already doing OK to do even better!

- students took notes on Pregnancy. 

- we will start seatwork next class.

- students will write a quiz on Gametes on Tuesday, 16th Dec. , 3rd period( a Christmas present! ).

Gr8 Sci - 04 group: Classwork and Quizzes!

- students will write a quiz on Gametes next class.

- students may write a requiz on Reproductive Organs up until the end of this week.  Students can come to room 223 during Advisory, find the Teacher at lunch, or write along with the Gametes quiz.

- students viewed videos from the Teachers blog to reinforce notes on Fertilization.

- students were then assigned questions 1 through 8 on pages 93 - 94.

- We will check these, do the quiz(zes), then move onto Pregnancy next class.

Gr8 Sci - 03 group: TEST & classwork

- students wrote a test on Diffusion & Osmosis, Genes & Chromosomes and lastly Photosynthesis & Cellular Respiration.

- they then viewed videos from the teachers blog on the human female Menstrual Cycle and Fertilization.

- questions 1 thru 4 on workbook page 93 was checked, then the remaining questions on pages 94 - 95 were assigned as seatwork.

- students then worked on their Microslide Viewer Activity looking at Reproduction in Cells.

- students then took notes on Fertilization.  There was a lot of interest and questions - I was happy to engage and clear up any misunderstandings students have!

- Next class we will quickly review the notes( we ALMOST finished them! )and move onto seatwork.

- students then began a second Microslide Activity looking at Reproduction.

- students finished their second Microslide Viewer Activity on Asexual Reproduction.

- students will write a quiz on Asexual & Sexual Reproduction next class:  Monday, 8th Dec. , first period.

- we will then look at Reproduction in Plants.

Gr8 Sci - 03 group: Vaping presentation

- classwork was put on hold for students to attend a presentation on Vaping by a PhD student from McGill University.  Students were well behaved, asked a lot of questions and hopefully learned something to empower their decision-making regarding the consumption of vaping products in the future.

- next class, on Monday, students write a test on Osmosis, Diffusion, Photosynthesis & Cellular Respiration AND Genes and Chromosomes.

- If time allows, we will check seatwork on Fertilization to close out that topic.

- students checked answers to Male Reproductive Organ questions on pages 86 - 87 in their workbooks.

- students will write a QUIZ next class on Male and Female Reproductive Organs( Friday, 5th Dec. , period 1 ).

- students took notes on Gametes.

- we will check these questions and start a new topic next class( after the quiz, of course. ).
