Gr7 Sci - 03 group: Classwork

Students finished notes on Volume.

Students were assigned questions 1 ,  2 a, b, c  ,  3 ,  4  &  5  on pages 26 - 27 in their workbooks.

These will be corrected next class.

Students wrote their Midyear today.

Next class we will make sure Mass is done and then start Volume.

If time allowed, students were provided with introductory work for next topic: The Rock Cycle, which we'll begin in the usual fashion next class.

Students continued review for their Midyear on Thursday.

Answers were given to their Material World handout.

A Living World handout was given for them to work on.

Students went over answers to questions from their Material World Review.  This was handed out last class.

Students were then given a Review booklet on Living World topics such as Diffusion & Osmosis, Photosynthesis & Cellular Respiration, and Genes & Chromosomes.

Students write their Midyear this coming Wednesday, 28th January, first period.

Students were given their Cells & Reproduction test back.

It was corrected in detail to help them prepare for their Midyear this Wednesday  -  28 Jan. 2026.

They were given a review document to prepare and began work on it in class today.

Students wrote a test on Reproduction.

Students then began a review document on Material World topics from the start of the year as study for their Midyear next week.

Topics included Atoms, Molecules and Chemical  Physical Changes.

Students took a few remaining notes on mass, then checked answers to question 1 ,  2 ,  4  &  6 on pages 19 - 20 in their workbook.

Students then practiced using balances to find the mass of several objects.

Students wrote their tests on Reproduction.

Students were given a Review document on Material World topics such as atoms, molecules, chemical and physical changes.  These topics will be on the Midyear Wednesday next week.  They are encouraged to complete it as it will serve as study for the Midyear.

We will go over answers next class and continue review on Living World topics such as Diffusion & Osmosis, Photosynthesis & Cellular Respiration.

Students then corrected workbook questions #1 ,  2 ,  3,  &  5.

Students then began a new topic:  Mass.

Their homework is to study for their upcoming test on Cells & Reproduction( Fri. , 23rd Jan, 4th

They highlighted the term in their Binder Glossary, and took notes.

Their homework is to study for their upcoming test on Cells & Reproduction.

Students wrote a quiz on Pregnancy.

Then, we finished looking at the videos on STBBIs.

A date was chosen for the Midyear:  Thursday, 29 Jan. , 3rd period.

Students then worked on a variety of items:

- page 117, question 2( STBBIs )

- pages 119 - 121( Reproduction review - for Reproduction test on Thursday, 22nd Jan. )

- Life Cycle Assignment( this is a required mark for 2nd Term - last due date is 30th Jan. ) 

Gr7 Sci - 03 group: a corrected eval. date, a midyear date AND classwork!

Students voted to move their Unit test on Cells & Reproduction from Wed, 21 Jan. to Fri. 23rd Jan.

We set the Midyear to Wednesday, 28th Jan. , 3rd period. 

Students then finished notes on States of Matter and were assigned questions 1 ,  2 ,  3  &  5 on pages 11 and 12 in their workbooks.

We will check the answers on these questions next class, do a few more, then move on to our next topic.

Students who have not already handed in their Life Cycle Assignment are strongly encouraged to finish it up and hand it in before we get too far into new material.

Students were invited to hand in their Life Cycle Assignments.

Students finished their notes on States of Matter.

Students were then assigned workbook questions 1 ,  2 ,  3 ,  5 ,  6 a) b)  & 8 a) b) on pages 11 to 14.

These will be checked next class and we will begin a new topic.

Today was the first day of accepting students completed Life Cycle Assignments.

They will be accepted up until the end of the month.  Any later, it will be difficult to include it in calculating second term marks.

We checked answers to questions 1 ,  2 ,  5  &  6  on pages 111 and 112( Contraception).

We then took notes on Contraception.

Students will write a quiz on Pregnancy on Thursday, 15th Jan.

Gr7 Sci - 03 group: classwork

The class moved from one "world" of study into another. We left the "Living World" and started our first topic in "The Material World".

Students first highlighted the appropriate terms in their binder glossary.

Students took notes on States of Matter.

We then made Ooblek to have a little fun. Ooblek is a Non-newtonian fluid.  It changes state depending on the amount of force applied to it.  It's quite messy, too!

Next class, we will view a video on how Ooblek works, then continue with notes, followed by seatwork.

Students homework over the weekend will be:

1) their Life Cycle Assignment and / or

2) study for their quiz on Animal Reproduction.

Gr7 Sci - 04 group: classwork

Students reviewed the concept of States of Matter, matching each of the 3 states of Matter to the amount of spacing between the particles, the attraction between particles and the movement of the particles.

We then made Ooblek to have a little fun. Ooblek is a Non-newtonian fluid.  It changes state depending on the amount of force applied to it.  It's quite messy, too!

Students then took notes on Changes of States.

Seatwork on these topics will be done next class.

Students homework over the weekend will be:

1) their Life Cycle Assignment and / or

With midyears approaching, students will write 2 more quizzes on Reproduction( because the class has been doing well on quizzes in this section )before a test on the whole unit.

The quizzes have been set for:

1) Thursday, 15 Jan. , 1rst period( Pregnancy QUIZ )

2) Tuesday,  20th Jan. , 2nd period( Contraception & STBBIs QUIZ )

3) Thursday, 22nd Jan. , 3rd period( ReproductionTEST ).

The week after that, students will write their midyear during the last week of January( week of the 26th ).  The midyear will be a test, written during a normal class period, covering all topics covered since September.

For classwork, I allowed this particular group to use the entire period to work collaboratively on their Life Cycle Assignments.  Many were away on the day the Assignment was handed out and needed the extra support from classmate who were present and had a head start.

The unit test will be written the very next week - week of the 19th Jan.( we'll set a specific date after one of the quizzes ).
