Students set a date for a quiz on Simple Machines for Wednesday, 6th May.

Students finished their Lever lab this class and handed in the writeup.

Students then began a Lever Lab to learn about this Simple Machine.

We next corrected workbook questions 1 ,  2 ,  3  &  5 on pages 233 - 235.

Then we began our lever lab.

Students wrote a quiz on Layers of the Earth and Atmosphere.

Students took or finished notes on Earthquakes.

Students began work on questions 1 to 3 on page 190 in their workbook.

Gr8 Sci - 04 group: classwork and QUIZ!

Students were given an Energy Transformation Assignment in class today to wrap up our study of Energy and Energy Transformations.  The seatwork had been completed last class.

We set a QUIZ date for next class:  Wednesday, 29th April 2nd period on the above topic.

Students then took notes on Simple Machines.

Seatwork was assigned:  pages 233 - 235, questions 1 ,  2 ,  3  &  6.

I recommend students work on the Simple Machines seatwork, then do the Energy Transformations Assignment over Monday and Tuesday night as study for the quiz on Wednesday.

Gr7 - 03 group: classwork

Students collected their partially completed Atmosphere Foldable Assignment from class today.  It is to be taken home and completed.  They are to be handed in next class:  Tuesday, 28th Apr.

Students will write a quiz on Layers of the Earth & Tectonic Plates on Tuesday, 28th Apr. , 2nd period.

After the quiz, we will continue our notes on Earthquakes.

Gr7 Sci - 04 group: classwork

Students picked up their Atmosphere Foldable Assignment to take home and complete. Once complete, they are to hand it in.

Students then reviewed Tectonic Plates and completed workbook questions 1 ,  2 ,  3 ,  5  &  6 on pages 180 - 181.

We corrected this in class.

We then set a date for a quiz next class:  Tuesday, 28th Apr. , first period.  The topic is Layers of the Earth and Plate Tectonics.

After the quiz, we will move onto a new topic. 

Gr8 Sci - 03 group: classwork

Students handed in their Energy Transformation Assignments if completed.

We set a quiz date for the above topic for next class:  Tuesday, 28th Apr. , 4th period.

Students then took notes on Simple Machines.

Students were then assigned Workbook questions 1 ,  2 ,  3  &  6 on pages 233 - 235.

Over the weekend, students should complete the Energy Transformation Assignment and study for the quiz.

Gr8 Sci - 04 group: classwork

Students completed questions 1 to 7 on pages 219 - 220 in their workbook.

We then corrected it in class.

An assignment based on this work will be handed out next class( Monday, 27th April. ).  It will be completed as homework and be due next class( Wednesday, 29th April. ).

We will start a new topic(Simple Machines)next class to stay on track to finish the curriculum by late May. 

Gr8 Sci - 03 group: classwork

Students finished notes on Energy & Energy Transformations with a note on the Conservation of Energy.

Students then participated in a demonstration illustrating this topic in a frightening manner( IF you don't know the Law of Conservation of Matter😜).

Students then completed questions 1 to 6 on pages 219 - 220 and corrected them with the Teacher.

An Assignment on the same topic was given out and students began work on it in class. This assignment will be handed in for marks.  It is due this Friday, 24th April.

Gr7 Sci - 04 group: classwork

Students worked on an Atmosphere Foldable Assignment today.

Work on it will continue at home.

It is due by Monday, 27th April.

We will continue with our studies on Tectonic Plates next class with seatwork and videos.  Students were instructed if they bring in a Mars bar, we can do a lab on Tectonic Plates next week.

Gr8 Sci - 04 group: classwork

Students wrote their Solar System test.

Absent students will write the Multiple Choice questions over the first half of a lunch hour of their choosing.  They will then write the short answer questions over the first half of a lunch hour the very next day.  I would prefer to see this done this week or early next week( week of Apr. 27th )to get this evaluation done and out of the way of new learning.

After the test, students then made one final note on Energy and Energy Transformations and then participated in a demonstration to test the Law of Conservation of Matter.

We will do some seatwork to reinforce our learning of Energy & Energy Transformations and start our next topic.

Gr7 Sci - 03 group: classwork

REMINDER: Students have a test on Mixtures, Solutions, Separation Techniques & pH on Tuesday, last period.  Students would be wise to devote some time on the weekend to looking over their notes.

Students were given an Assignment on the Atmosphere making an informative cut-and-paste brochure.  It is due next Friday:  24th April.

Students then took notes on Plate Tectonics.

Workbook questions 1 - 6 on pages 180 - 181 were assigned and work began in class.  It's doubtful students will finish these questions. We will continue with them on Friday the 24th.  That way students can study for the test over the weekend and work on the Atmosphere Assignment from Tuesday night 'til Friday.

Gr7 Sci - 03 group: classwork

The students worked in their workbooks this period answering questions about the Layers of the Earth and the Layers of the Atmosphere.

Workbook questions 1 ,  2  &  5 on pages 154 - 155( Layers of the Earth )were assigned, answered and corrected, then questions 2 ,  3 ,  5  &  6 on pages 170 - 171( Layers of the Atmosphere )were assigned, answered and corrected.

We will give an assignment on the Layers of the Atmosphere next class to take home and complete.  We'll continue with a new topic:  Tectonic Plates next class*.

*our "next class" is actually tomorrow( Friday, 17 April 2026 ).  Tomorrow WAS a scheduled PD day. However, the School Board converted it to a regular teaching day to replace the day lost to the extreme weather event last month that cancelled busses and closed schools across the area.

The school day tomorrow will be a day 9.  The students have Science first period.

Gr8 Sci - 03 group: classwork

Students wrote a test on the Solar System.

All students were done with a half-hour left in class so we started the next topic - Energy & Energy Transformations.

We took MOST of the notes.  

Next class we will finish the notes, demonstrate the concept of Conservation of Energy and move on to seatwork.

Students who missed the test will make it up over 2 consecutive lunch hours of their choosing next week.  They will write the multiple choice 1 lunch hour and then answer the short answer over the second lunch hour.

Students then took notes on Energy & Energy Transformations.

We ended there, so students can study for their Solar System test on Monday( 20 Apr. )3rd period.

The class after the test will see a review of the notes taken, then a final note, then a demo and seatwork.

Students received photocopies of Gr7 Tech World chapters on Force, Effects / Types of Forces, Types of Motion & Links & Guides.

Gr7 Sci - 04 group: Classwork

Students were then given a handout to work on these topics.

Gr8 Sci - 04 group: classwork

Students set two dates for upcoming evaluations.

1) Monday, 13 April, 1rst period  -   quiz on Meteor and related space bodies.

2) Monday, 20th April, 3rd period  -  test on Solar System.

Students then took notes on Polar Aurorae.

Students then answered questions 1 through 5 on workbook pages 182 - 183.

Next class, after the quiz, we will check the answers to the above questions and begin the Technological World.

Students were reminded of missing work:

1) Natural Resource Powerpoint

2) page 176( planet information table )

It was also decided that the Scale Model Planet project we discussed earlier has not been received well.  Those students who choose to create a Scale Model of a planet will have it count as extra grades toward their C1.

We set two evaluation dates:

1) a quiz on Meteors and related space objects.  It will be written tomorrow, 9th Apr. , 3rd period.

2) a test on all Solar System topics.  It will be written Thursday, 16 April, 1rst period.

Students then took notes on Polar Auroras.

Workbook questions 1 through 5 on workbook pages 182 - 183 were assigned and students set to work on them in class.

Next class we will write the quiz mentioned above, check the Polar Auroras seatwork and then start our last World!

Gr7 Science - Both groups

The students wrote a quiz on Acids & Bases.

The students then finished their Acid & Base lab.

The 04 group took notes on Characteristic Properties.  We`ll review and do seatwork next class.

The 03s set a date for a test on Mixtures for Tuesday, 21rst April, 4th period.

Gr8 Sci - 04 group: classwork

Students wrote a quiz on Gravity & Planets.

Seatwork on Meteors and their "relatives" on workbook page 186 was corrected.

Students took notes on Comets and began the seatwork question on page 179.

We'll check this page and start our next topic:  Polar Auroras next class.

Gr7 Sci - 03 & 04 groups: Classwork

First, we scheduled a quiz for Tuesday, 7th April, pd 3( 04 group ), pd 4( 03 group ).

We then checked the workbook questions on Acids & Bases.

We then performed a lab testing a variety of household substances to see if they were Acids, Bases or Neutral.

We'll continue with this lab next class.

Gr8 Science - 03 group: classwork

Students wrote a quiz on Planets.

We then went over answers to workbook questions 1 - 5 on page 186.

Students took notes on Comets - the last of our list of Meteors, Meteorites, Asteroids & Comets.

Workbook question #1 on page 179 was assigned and checked.

We will study Polar Auroras next class.
