After the quiz, we will cover Comets to finish off our topic of Extraplanetary Bodies.
Students were working on workbook questions 1 through 5 on page 186. We'll check it this class.
If time allows, we'll also cover our last Earth and Space topic, Polar Auroras.
Students were informed they are going to write a Quiz on Planets next class: Wednesday, 01 April, first period.
Next, students were reminded of 3 assigned tasks that should not escape their attention:
1) Natural Resource Powerpoint
2) Page 176 Assignment
3) Planet Project.
Students then took notes on Meteorites, Meteors, Asteroids & Comets then told to answer workbook questions 1 to 5 on page 186.
Next class we will finish the notes( the comets part )and begin Polar Auroras.

Students then participated in a hands-on activity to study Separation of Mixtures.
We will start a new topic next class: pH - also known as Acids and Bases.

We then participated in a Lockdown drill. The students have some room for improvement in staying quiet during a lockdown.
After the drill, I introduced a Planet Project - to build a scale model of one of the planets of our solar system.
Students were assigned a random planet, but were allowed to negotiate with other students to perhaps switch planets. It was discussed how the planet Jupiter specifically would be a challenge. I am open to discussions for students to successfully complete this Assignment - I think the result will be cool!
Next class: part 3 or our Solar System Unit: Meteorites, Meteors, Asteroids and Comets.

Students wrote a test on The Rock Cycle, Minerals, Soils and Natural Resources as scheduled in class the week before. A correction was later made to the post on my blog and an announcement made in English class.
When students were finished the test, they worked on workbook questions 1 to 9 on pages 174 - 176. We checked questions 1 to 7.
Students were to then tear out page 176 and hand in question 8 & 9 as an assignment.

We will correct questions 1 to 7 and 9 next class, then students will carefully tear out page 175-176 and hand in question 8 as an assignment.

We had already decided to have a test on The Rock Cycle, Minerals, Soils, and Natural Resources that class.
Please disregard the quiz. We will write the test as originally planned on Monday, 23rd Mar. 2nd period.
The quiz on Solar System Organization & Distances will be pushed to the class after the test: Tuesday, 24th Mar. 3rd period.
Students were given back their Rock Cycle Assignment. Students who have not completed it can still hand it in.
Students need to get their Natural Resource Assignment( powerpoint )in at their earliest convenience. They were shown who has submitted it and who has not. No more classtime will be devoted to it, however. Students must work on it on their own time.
Students set a date for a TEST on the Rock Cycle, Minerals, Soils and Natural Resources. It will be written on Monday, 23rd March, 2nd period.
We then briefly reviewed some material from last class, when a supply was in, then started Gravity and the Inner Planets.
Next class: Outer Planets!
Students wrote their test on Properties today.
We will write a quiz on Mixtures next class, then start a new topic next class: Solutions.

Students were given back their Mass & Volume labs and feedback was given. Several students still owe the Individual Discussion and Analysis handout and they were advised of this.
Students also got their Properties test back. Several students were absent and need to write it. Arrangements were made. The test can be given back and feedback given once these students write it.
A new topic was then covered with notes and seatwork: Solutions.
Students were assigned questions 1 , 2 , 4 & 6 on pages 58 and 59 in their workbooks.
They will write a quiz on Mixtures next class.
Students in this group followed what the other group(03)did: they learned about the Organization, distances & orbits in our Solar System.
Notes were taken and videos shown to try and help them wrap their minds around this immense topic!
Students wrote a test on States of Matter, Mass, Volume, and Temperature.
We will continue with our study of the Material World with Solutions. next class.
Students started a new topic today: the Solar System.
Students took notes and were shown videos to gain an appreciation of the "astronomical" distances at play in our Solar System( see what I did there? ).
Students wrote a quiz on Natural Resources this period, as scheduled prior to the March Break. There was some alarm for some students, but I was confident the topic was well entrenched after notes and 1 period of working on a Powerpoint Assignment. The quiz was light as well. Requizzes can be offered if any student has an issue.
Students then worked for a third period on their Natural Resource Assignment.
The explanatory handout for this is posted earlier AND can also be found on their TEAMS page in the General Chat.
Students will no longer have in-class time to work on this. I will post a "soft" due date of the end of next week( 20th March ), but would advise students to get this completed and submitted to get it off their "to-do" list and move on to other work.
