Then, students finished up notes on Mixtures.

Students viewed a video from the gr8 Sci blog reviewing Natural Resources.
Students then were assigned, completed and then checked seatwork on pages 156 - 156( questions 1 to 7 )with the teacher.
Next class, students will choose a Renewable Natural Energy Source(Resource)to research for the purpose of creating an informative powerpoint.
Both classes performed a C1 lab evaluation on Mass & Volume.
In pairs, students performed tasks associated with measuring the Mass & Volume of a variety of objects and substances.
After completing the tasks and handing in their worksheet, students were given an individual Analysis and Discussion handout on Mass & Volume.
This will be due next class.

Students checked their Metric System worksheets today; learning the most appropriate unit to measure the Mass(*g) and Volume(*m3 or *L)of different objects.
Students should come away with a familiarity of the most common unit such as Kilograms, grams, milligrams for Mass and Liters, milliliters or cm3 for Volume.

We started Minerals; the word was highlighted in their binder glossaries, notes were taken and seatwork assigned: questions 1 , 2 , 4 , 5 & 6 on Workbook pages 140 - 141.
We will check these next class, give an in-class Assignment and schedule a quiz for next class.
Students wrote a quiz on The Rock Cycle.
Students were then given time to finish the back side of their Rock Cycle Assigment using Rock Identification Tables provided by the Teacher. Students were allowed to take a Table home upon request to continue work on the Assignment.
The Rock Cycle Assignment will be collected next class.

Students reviewed the topic of Volume and were given an Assignment. They began work on it in class.
They are to complete the first side by next class.
We will then look at the Metric System and this will enable them to complete the second side of the Volume Assignment.

Students continued their study of Volume by practicing measuring liquids in a graduated cylinder and observing the meniscus to do so.
A final note was added to their Volume notes - it explained that 1 cubic centermeter(cm3) equals 1 milliliter(mL).
We went over the answers to questions 1 to 5 on pages 26 - 27 in their workbooks.
They will work on as Assignment next class.
